Without our a terrific team of volunteers, Portage Community Center wouldn't be able to offer the services we do.  Our volunteers are the backbone of what we do on a daily basis!  PCC offers a variety of ways people can help out.  We have an option that fits any family.  PCC is a federally registered 501 (c) (3).  All donations to us are completely tax deductible.  Help us Make Life Better for those in Portage that need assistance!

Financial Contributions

PCC is dependent upon financial contributions from our friends.  While we do receive funding from both the City of Portage and the United Way, contributions from our friends help us provide the needed assistance and programs for those in our community who need it the most.  Besides general contributions, we also accept contributions for memorials and seasonal programs.  For more information, please contact Executive Director Chris Buckley at or at 323-1942 x212

Holiday Volunteers

PCC is currently looking for groups to volunteer this holiday season.  Volunteers are needed to help pack food baskets, sort dontations, sort food as  well several other jobs.  We can accomodate most groups and will help you find a task and time that best fits your needs.  Contact Chris at if you are interested or for more information.

Clothing & Household Items

PCC is happy to collect your gently used clothing donations.  Every Wednesday from 9:30am-12:30pm we host a Clothing Bar open to all residents in Kalamazoo County who qualify.  Donations can be dropped off during normal business hours.

PCC also takes small household items, toys and electronics.  Please note that we CANNOT accept the following: car seats, cribs, large furniture, TVs, medications, hazardous materials, chemicals or mattresses.  If you have a question about what we will or won't accept, please call us at 323-1942.

Food Donations

PCC collects food donations year round.  We welcome all non-perishable, unopened, non-damaged and/or expired food and personal care donations.  All donations can be dropped off at PCC 9-5pm Monday-Friday.

Volunteer Opportunities

PCC is always looking for volunteers to help with our various programs.  We can accommodate both youth and adult volunteers as well as any individual in need of court ordered community service hours.  We also work with school assigned and school ordered community service opportunities.  We are currently looking for volunteers for:
