Inclement Weather Closing Policy
With winter weather fast approaching, the Portage Community Center would like to state our policy on closing due to severe weather:
If Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) and/or Western Michigan University (WMU) close classes due to inclement weather, then PCC will be closed that day as well.  This includes all hosted services, food pantry and clothing bar.  Check Channel 3 WWMT to see if we are closed.


PCC is now accepting applications for holiday food baskets and holiday adoption!
PCC is currently accepting applications for those who qualify for holiday adoption and holiday food baskets.  What you will need to bring in for proof are the following:
  • Proof of income for the past thirty days
  • proof of residency
  • proof of number of people in the household

We have space to rent for parties, meetings, etc - check our our Room Rental page!
Please note that we cannot rent out rooms from November 15 - the end of December due to our Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday programs.  Both the Portage Senior Center and the Portage District Library have rooms available for rent.   Thank you for considering the Center!

WIC - available at the community center the 1st Tuesday of the month 8-11:30 & 1-4:30 and the 4th Tuesday of the month from 1-4:30.  Walk ins welcome!
Immunizations - vaccines for infants, children & adults - 1st Tuesday of the month from 2:30pm to 4:30pm
HIV Testing    First Tuesday of the month from 2pm to 4pm - confidential.  Ora-Sure Method (no needles) 
Memorial & In Honor Of Gifts are accepted - for a listing of current gifts, please see the Memorials/Honors page.

*We are a Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry - to receive food at the Center, you must call Loaves & Fishes and get on our list - call them at 343-3663 between 9am and 1pm.

Business Hours:  Monday-Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Summer Business Hours:  June- August, Monday-Friday
                                         8:30am to 4:30pm
Red Med Boxes    Put your unused and/or unwanted medications in a Red Med Box - help keep our community safer!  There are many locations throughout the County - and one right here in Portage in the lobby of the Public Safety building at 7810 Shaver Road.  Check out this link for more information redmedbox 
Goodsearch It!
PCC can get a donation for each internet search you do.  It's easy!  Go to, make it the default browser (instead of Google, MSN, etc) and choose PCC as the non-profit you want to support (they walk you through the process - it's quick).  You can also "goodshop" through this site at a long list of participating retailers (even Amazon, which sells everything).  A percentage of all your purchases will go to PCC.
